The first activity was to travel with the group towards the „Na malenom brijegu“, or translated into English: “On the little hill family farm.”
On the family farm, everyone was greeted by Vladimir Vlajinic, the owner of the farm and host of the tour.
He has given a short introduction of himself and the farm, before guiding everyone inside. Vladimir and his wife have prepared a grandiose lunch for everyone that participates in the Youth Parliament event. This consisted out of a starter of chicken soup and elderberry syrup for the drinks. The starter was followed by a salad where they soon after brought out a plate of various meat types right after. Something worthy of mentioning is that everything has been locally made.
After lunch, Vladimir has given a tour on the farm, telling a stories about the nature, fairy tales and the history of Ribnjačka, the village the farm is located in.
When the tour has passed, the first debates within each team have begun. Here the students will have to discuss the first subject “Sustainable development of rural tourism - How to achieve a balance between tourism development and conservation of natural resources?” within their team. Another task they had to do is to create a team name, but not all teams were entirely sure about their team names yet.
As the hour and a half for debates has passed, the time at the family farm has ended. Everyone got back into the bus and returned to Bjelovar. After arrival everyone got an hour of free time.
In the evening, Korina, the Youth Parliament President of 2023, has given a tour to the group as she herself comes from Bjelovar. She showed everyone around the city center and told us the history of the town of Bjelovar.
After the tour has ended, everyone went to mind their own business. A group of students went out dining, while the majority of the group returned to the hotel to dine there.
This concludes the blog posts of April 8th.
