ES004 · JESUITES SARRIA SANT IGNASI
A traditional Catalan appetizer made by rubbing ripe tomato on toasted rustic bread, then adding olive oil and salt. It’s simple, fresh, and highlights the quality of the ingredients. Often served alongside cured meats, cheese, or tapas.
1. Toast the bread
Lightly toast the bread slices until golden and crisp on the surface.
2. Rub with garlic (optional)
Cut the garlic clove in half and gently rub the cut side across the toast.
(Catalan homes often skip this step, but many restaurants use it.)
3. Prepare the tomatoes
Cut the tomatoes in half. Rub each half directly onto the bread, squeezing so the pulp and juices soak in.
(Alternatively, grate the tomato into a bowl and spoon it onto the bread.)
4. Drizzle with olive oil
Add a generous drizzle of good-quality extra virgin olive oil over each slice.
5. Season
Sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
6. Serve immediately
Great on its own or topped with jamón, cheese, anchovies, or olives.
