Description

Herring snack with black bread, beetroot jam and butter is an integral part of Lithuanian Christmas, reflecting fasting traditions and a simple but rich taste.

Preparation
Prepare the sandwiches: chop the cooked beets, place them in a tall bowl and mash them with a food processor. Add the remaining ingredients, stir everything again and taste to see if there is any sourness or saltiness.
Divide the bread slices into 6-8 small triangles. Cut the herring into thin strips. Finely chop the dill.
Place a teaspoon of beetroot pate on the bread triangle, place a piece of herring, a little fig jam and sprinkle with dill.
