For Christmas this is a typical dish in Sweden served with beetrootsallad on the side. When eaten at other occasions it´s often served with mashed potatoes, gravy and lingonberryjam.
Step-by-step preparation Meatballs
• Finely dice the onions and sauté gently in a little butter without browning. Let it cool down.
• Soak the breadcrumbs in the heavy cream.
• Blend the ground meat with the onions, eggs, breadcrumb and cream mixture and the spices to a smooth paste. If the mixture feels to firm add a little bit of water.
• Check the taste by test-frying a meatball. Add more spices if necessary.
• Shape the mixture to even sized round balls and place on a water-rinsed plate or parchment paper.
• Brown a generous pat of butter in a frying pan, place the meatballs in the pan and brown on all sides. Shake the pan often.
