Kataifi

Description

A traditional pastry made with shredded phyllo dough and nuts, soaked in syrup.


Recipe

1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
2. Melt butter and set aside.
3. Chop walnuts and almonds finely; mix with cinnamon.
4. Take small portions of kataifi dough, spread out, and place nut mixture inside.
5. Roll tightly and arrange in a greased baking dish.
6. Brush generously with melted butter.
7. Bake for 40 minutes until golden brown.
8. Prepare syrup: boil sugar and water for 10 minutes, add lemon juice, and cool slightly.
9. Pour warm syrup over hot kataifi and let absorb for 2 hours before serving.
